ABOUT US
Meet the Team Behind Alloy Health
A multidisciplinary team of psychologists and speech pathologists dedicated to helping Melbourne children thrive.
OUR STORY
How Alloy Health Began
Alloy Health began as Gayton Psychology, founded by Clinical Psychologist Katherine Gayton in 2023. Drawing on extensive experience across hospital, community mental health, and educational settings, Katherine built a practice dedicated to comprehensive psychological assessments for children and adolescents — helping Melbourne families understand their children’s unique strengths and challenges.
What started as a focused assessment practice has grown into something larger: a vision for integrated, psychology-led healthcare that combines multiple disciplines to deliver better outcomes for children and families.
Why “Alloy”?
In metallurgy, an alloy combines elements to create something stronger than any single component alone. Bronze is stronger than copper. Steel is stronger than iron. Alloy Health represents the same principle: integrated disciplines, working together, creating outcomes stronger than any single approach. While we currently focus on psychological assessment and therapy, we’re building toward a multidisciplinary practice that brings together complementary allied health services, making it easier for families to access comprehensive support in one place.
WHAT WE STAND FOR
Our Values
Our clinical work is guided by principles we believe are non-negotiable.
Independence and Integrity
We form our own clinical opinions based on evidence, not external pressure. We don’t over-diagnose to meet expectations, and we don’t under-diagnose to avoid difficult conversations.
Child-First Approach
Every recommendation we make is based on what will genuinely help your child, not what’s easiest, fastest, or most convenient.
Transparency
We explain our reasoning, share our uncertainty when it exists, and never hide behind clinical jargon. You deserve to understand your child as well as we do.
Realistic Expectations
We don’t promise outcomes we can’t deliver. Assessment provides clarity and direction, but change takes time and consistent effort from everyone involved.
